My Path And Choices To Self-Healing And Growth | Decisions And Practices That Are Changing My Life

These past months have been a big eye-opener and a complete life changer as I have made bold and edgy choices. Some may see it as sudden, random, risky, out of place, or even reckless. Trust me; it's not.

After seven years of constant doctors, hospital visits, surgeries, medications, addictive painkillers, numerous procedures, and trials. All of which had very little success or actual benefit. I've lived a prolonged period of my life hanging on to every piece of straw thrown at me as I try to stay afloat in the stormy sea of my situation and hardship.

I was living on false hope after false hope, which is exhausting and draining. I often needed a pill to sleep and another to reduce the pain. Yet, I kept fighting through, pushing forward, and staying optimistic.

Albert Einstein correctly stated:

"Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results."

Inspired by that, it is time now that I say:

"Enough is enough! If I'm meant to live with one lung and a window, I will let it be the best life possible."

Some of the major decisions I made were to stop all doctor visits, consultations, and medication—especially Antibiotics after a three months course and Antidepressants after several years.

Other seemingly more uncomplicated choices I made have tremendous mental and physical positive effects and changes to better myself and do my best because I deserve it. Those decisions and current practices are:

  • Continuously learn. If I'm not learning something new today, I'm not growing, and it's a waste of a day.
  • Apply those learnings and work on translating them into action. Or else, what's the point of this knowledge?
  • Have a minimum thirty-minute daily walk routine, which I recently upgraded to include lightweight lifting (2 KG) and exercises. All while listening to an audiobook or an online course and wearing support straps.
  • Have at least twenty minutes of motionless relaxation a day.
  • Take a soothing hot bath every other day. I need to be careful of the water level so I don't drown myself internally (Joke to myself).
  • Practice short and simple breathing exercises three times a day. Found a great app for that (Breathwrk, iBreath).
  • Frequently use the humidifier. Humidity helps to breathe more comfortably and has many other benefits.
  • Drink water regularly, especially ZamZam, and vitamin water, when possible. Hydration is essential for recovery, wound healing, and general health wellbeing.
  • Drink 'Pulmocare' mid-walking or exercise. Pulmocare is a complete and balanced formula that provides nutrition for people with pulmonary health issues.
  • Drink Zhourat tea (mixed herbal flowers) on occasion.
  • Take vitamins C, D, and other supplements.
  • Have a different workplace from the resting place. This helped with my insomnia because I used to work in bed and learned that our minds associate function with a place.
  • Sleeping and waking up Early. To be in bed by 10:00 pm and wake up by 6:00 am.
  • Keeping an open mind to other alternative methods and experiences.
  • How can I not mention writing continuously. It is one of the best types of treatment and psychological comfort.
  • Using Aquacel At+ Extra, Hydrofiber Dressing, to suck out the nasty stuff.

As I said, I'm still learning and growing, and a few things might get added along the journey, but I'm motivated and so glad and proud of where I am now.

The journey continues...
